Our Printing Processes

Sample of Label Press short run digital labels in the Tasmania areaDigital Labels
Modern printing methods such as laser and inkjet printing are referred to as digital printing. Artwork can be uploaded onto digital presses within minutes using digital files such as PDF files and those from graphics software such as Illustrator and InDesign.

This eliminates the need for printing plates, which are currently used in more traditional Letterpress and Flexographic printing machinery, which can save time and money. Our digital printing presses give us the versatility to be able to print from 50 labels to 20,000 labels with crisp images and excellent light resistant properties. We have both toner based and inkjet inking systems delivering quality labels to our clients.

Advantages –

  • Small to medium volume label printing capacity suited to on demand short run printing, rather than ordering labels in bulk. Offers a perfect solution for testing your new products in the market.
  • High Quality- Our digital press prints crisp CMYK colour labels at an impressive 1200 x 1200dpi.
  • Fast turnaround times
  • No plates costs means the costs for digital label printing is relatively low for short run labels compared to traditional printing methods.
  • Options available for Gloss or Matt lamination to you labels adding strength and durability and enhancing the look of your labels.
  • Options available for UV laminate for outdoor use labels.
  • Available Stocks include: White Gloss Paper, White Matt Paper, White Polyester (PET) Vinyl, Clear Polyester (PET) Vinyl.

Flexographic Printing Presses

st2Flexographic Printing is most suited to larger production print runs and uses flexible photo-polymer printing plates for each colour which are then mounted onto print cylinders and brought into registration by the machine operator.

The inking process is achieved using the universal Pantone mixing system (PMS) inks. Our flexo presses are capable of producing up to six spot colours of any combination of PMS colours including white for transparency stocks and metallic inks.

These presses are capable of producing labels at very high speed compared to digital or letterpress printing with precision made rotary dies for high speed die-cutting.

Advantages –

  • Most economical printing technique for larger production printing runs due to the higher speeds these machines can produce labels.
  • Suited to a diverse range of adhesive papers, vinyls and laminated finishes for all aspects of labelling.
  • Full range of Pantone ink colours available, including varnishes and embellishments.
  • Labels supplied on rolls which are suited for both hand or machine labeling application.

Rotary Letterpress

st3Rotary Letterpress is most suited to medium production print runs and similar to Flexo printing uses flexible printing plates, PMS inks and high quality precision rotary dies to achieve quality labels.

Our Rotary Letterpress machine is fitted 6 colour inking units, a second pass registration unit for those client who require more than 6 colours to their labels or those requiring print on both sides of the label. Our machine is also fitted with a hot foil unit to add metallic foils or holograms to you labels for that special quality effect.

Advantages –

  • Most economical printing technique for medium production printing runs.
  • Suitable for high quality print productions.
  • Suited to a diverse range of adhesive papers, Vinyls and laminated finishes for all aspects of labelling.
  • Full range of Pantone ink colours available,
    including varnishes and embellishments.
  • Labels supplied on rolls which are suited for both hand or machine labeling application.

Thermal or Direct Transfer

st4Thermal transfer printing is a digital printing process in which material is applied to paper (or some other material) by transfering a coating of ribbon directly on to the surface of the material. It contrasts with direct thermal printing where no ribbon is present in the process.

Suitable for both small and large runs, basic text labels, barcode printing, simple logos, variable data labeling, alpha numeric codeing and many other industrial and manufacturing applications.

Advantages –

  • Fast turnaround times.
  • Budget Printing for basic labels.
  • Minimal set up and no plates required.
  • Order only what you need (print on demand).
  • Large number of barcodes available – EAN13 etc.
  • Can be used to overprint multiple products on your large production base label with ease.
